sonett - replaced headlight switch

Old switch broke. It is an interesting switch... a momentary switch that the full current of the lights goes through. Also its normally open, push to close (AKA push to turn off the lights). At first I went to my local auto parts store and got a 20 amp momentary push button switch. Two problems, it was plastic and moved around enough it wasn't reliable. Second, it was normally closed (N.C) meaning it was off when I asked for the headlights to be on.

I though an easy solution would be to get a SPDT (single pole double throw) momentary switch. This would let me decide which terminal I connected allowing me to make the switch a N.C. or N.O. (normally open) switch. Turns high amperage SPDT momentary switch are hard to find.

In fact, I went back to searching for a SPST N.O. high amperage momentary switch and only found one. Carline Technologies 170xG1, or maybe its 2x901. The bag confusing. Whatever it is, they have nearly the same switch in various part numbers, reflecting NO vs NC, plastic vs metal button, screw terminals vs solder terminals. I went for the metal, NO, screw terminal switch. It was like $20 on ebay. Expensive for what it is, but it fit and its working great.
